The United Greek Council is one of the four councils within The University of Alabama’s Fraternity and Sorority Life community. Joining an organization in the United Greek Council (UGC) offers many benefits, including:

New Member Requirements
There is no council-specific registration process for UGC, but all members of any Greek-letter organization must complete the following the requirements.
Before Joining
Complete the Hazing Policy Acknowledgement Form
Take the UA Thrive Hazing Prevention Course
After Joining
Complete the OFSL FERPA Grade Release Form
Recruitment Process
Depending on the chapter, this process may be referred to as Recruitment, Membership Intake, or Rush. Each chapter’s process for taking new members varies by their specific needs and (inter)national requirements.
UGC recruitment includes participation in fall and spring Get On Board Day. Chapters will also host tabling events and programs throughout the semester advertised through the SOURCE to recruit members.

To be eligible to join a UGC organization, you should:
- Be a UA-enrolled student
- Meet individual chapter requirements

New Member (One-time) Fees Per Semester
Range: $300-$1,000Includes local chapter fees and inter/national fees as well as one-time fees associated with pledging and initiation.
Living Out-of-House Fees Per Semester
Range: $50-$1,200Includes local chapter fees and inter/national fees

The following are ways to increase the likelihood that you will be offered membership in an Alabama Panhellenic Association organization.
Recruitment
Follow chapters of interest on Instagram! All United Greek Council (UGC) chapters will post recruitment flyers to their Instagram accounts.
Attend Get On Board Day (GOBD) and stop by the table(s) to learn more about recruitment. This is a great opportunity to meet chapter members & ask questions.
Attend a rush event! The chapter will notify you once you sign up as to how many recruitment events you need to attend to be eligible to receive a bid.
Research
Research the website of the national organization(s) to make sure you are aware of the requirements for membership and the organization’s purpose.
Get Involved on Campus
Building your leadership resume is key to ensuring that you develop the skills that help you stand out as an asset during the new member selection process. Find clubs and organizations on MySource.
Academics
It is important you are dedicated to maintaining a high GPA. Chapters are looking for members with a GPA that is above the minimum requirement for the chapter.
