Join A Legacy of Excellence

Prospective Students

The UA Greek community is the nation’s largest, representing 36% of undergraduates and 73 social organizations across 4 councils. In this community, there is a place for all students to find a supportive network.

Lead, Learn, Serve

Leadership Opportunities

Membership in the UA Greek community provides countless opportunities to lead and grow. Students can take on roles within their chapters, serve on council boards, or participate in campus-wide leadership initiatives.

Academic Excellence

Students in the Greek community are consistently higher achieving in academics than their unaffiliated peers. Chapters support members through scholarship programs, study resources, and recognition for academic achievement.

Philanthropy and Service

All chapters and councils are actively involved in philanthropic efforts and volunteer work that make a meaningful impact. Each year our Greek community raises about 1.3 million philanthropy dollars and collects nearly 130,000 service hours.

Take a Greek Ambassador Tour

The Greek Ambassadors at the University of Alabama provide prospective students and their families with the opportunity to meet with a fraternity or sorority member and tour one of the 48-chapter facilities or Greek Assembly Hall. These tours include an overview of all the benefits of Greek membership at the University of Alabama.

How to Schedule a Greek Ambassador Tour

Consider adding a Greek Ambassador tour to your official Campus Visit. Notify your Admissions Recruiter of your interest in Fraternity & Sorority Life at UA and they will take care of the rest!

Not working with an Admissions Recruiter? Reach out to the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life at 2025-348-2693 or ofsl@ua.edu. Provide the date you would like to attend a Greek Ambassador tour, and we will assist with scheduling.

Chapter Facilities

Our fraternity and sorority chapter facilities play a prominent role on UA’s campus. The majority of the Greek organizations at The University of Alabama are housed on campus, providing members with a space for meetings, meals and community building.

The Greek facility community includes:

  • 28 IFC residential houses
  • 18 APA residential houses
  • 2 NPHC residential houses
  • Greek Assembly Hall – community meeting space for NPHC and UGC

House occupancies can vary by facility and all houses have a house director who manages the day-to-day operations of the chapter facility, with many living on property.

Living in the Chapter House

Around 1,900 students live in our facilities. Currently enrolled University of Alabama students are eligible to live in the chapter house and must meet certain criteria. Each chapter may have additional requirements.

Freshmen students are not allowed to live in a fraternity or sorority house as they are required to live in the residence halls.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding Fraternity and Sorority housing, please contact Jennifier Brown, Director for Fraternity and Sorority Housing.

Bama Dining Meal Plans

Since some fraternities and sororities also have their own required meal plan, the University and Bama Dining allow new members of these organizations the option of choosing a Fraternity and Sorority Alternative Meal Plan, also known as the Essential Meal Plan.

Students will automatically be charged for the All Access meal plan, but during Bama Bound will be given the option of downgrading to the Silver 150 meal plan. After the deadline set by Bama Dining, students will no longer be permitted to downgrade to the Silver 150. First-year students, who join a fraternity or sorority with a full-service kitchen that offers 10 or more meals per week, can have their All Access/Silver 150 meal plan reduced to the Essential meal plan (55 meal swipes and 25 VIP meals per semester).

The fraternity/sorority must submit a new member roster to the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life (OFSL) by the required deadline for the fall semester and for the spring semester. Any meal swipes used prior to the downgrade will be subtracted from the original swipes.

For more information regarding the semester cost of the Essential meal plan and/or how the credit will be applied to your student account, please visit Meal Plan Terms and Conditions.
