Spotlight: Isabella Avila

Greek Programming Board Officers 2025

The University of Alabama’s Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life (OFSL) proudly welcomes Isabella Avila as the 2025 Director of the Greek Programming Board (GPB).

Avila, a junior from Edison, New Jersey, is a Public Relations major with a minor in sales and a proud member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. Prior to serving as the GPB Director, Isabella served on the board as the Assistant Director of Communications during a pivotal time when the Greek Programming Board was being re-established in Fall 2023.

“My involvement in Greek Life has truly been a highlight of my time at UA,” said Avila. “It has given me the opportunity to connect with so many amazing individuals throughout all four councils and significantly develop my leadership skills. Serving as the Director of the Greek Programming Board and as the Director of Member Conduct for my sorority has been so rewarding and led to invaluable growth.”

The Greek Programming Board plays a critical role in coordinating events and initiatives that engage all four of the university’s Greek councils—Interfraternity Council (IFC), National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC), Alabama Panhellenic Association (APA), and the United Greek Council (UGC). From planning Greek Week of Service to organizing small scale events for members of the community to get to know one another, the Greek Programming Board aims to create inclusive, enriching experiences for the nearly 13,000 students involved in Greek life at UA.

Avila notes that her favorite memory during her time with OFSL was attending the Greek Leadership Summit, an annual retreat designed to sharpen leadership skills and build stronger relationships among council leaders.

“The summit aims to maximize and implement important leadership skills with the goal of bettering all aspects of the UA Greek Life Community,” she said. “It was during that experience I really saw the impact of unity and collaboration across different councils.”

In addition to her involvement with GPB, Avila balances a rigorous academic schedule and her responsibilities within Pi Beta Phi. Her commitment to both her personal growth and the betterment of UA’s Greek system reflects a larger trend among student leaders at the university—one that emphasizes service, inclusivity, and leadership development.

As the year continues, Avila and the Greek Programming Board plan to launch new initiatives that promote mental health awareness, diversity education, and community engagement within the Greek community.

“The friendships, lessons, and leadership skills I’ve gained through OFSL have truly shaped who I am,” Avila said. “I hope to continue giving back and encouraging others to get involved and lead with purpose.”
