A fraternity and sorority chapter advisor plays a crucial role in guiding and supporting the chapter’s leadership and overall operations. By fostering collaboration between the chapter, university, and national organization chapter advisors aid in creating a positive Greek experience.
OFSL Advisor Policy
- Every chapter must have at least one Greek alumni chapter advisor within a 100-mile radius of campus to remain in good standing/recognized by the University.
- Advisors must be at least 25 years of age and/or have completed their undergraduate degree at least 4 years prior to serving in the role.
- Third-party paid consultants cannot serve as the primary chapter advisor.
- An individual cannot serve as a chapter advisor for more than one Greek organization.
- Chapters with more than 50 members must have a second advisor

- Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life staff are NOT eligible to serve as chapter faculty/staff advisors.
- It is not required that the faculty/staff member be of the same gender, be a member of that particular fraternity or sorority, or have been a member of a fraternity or sorority in order to serve.
- An individual may serve as the faculty/staff advisor for no more than two chapters.
