The Alabama United Greek Council (UGC) is the governing body for the 10 special interest sororities and fraternities at The University of Alabama. Established on the UA campus in spring 2009, UGC exists to enable member organizations to share ideas and resources, promote mutual respect and equality, and provide a support network for students on campus.
Message from the President

Welcome to the United Greek Council (UGC) at the University of Alabama! The UGC is home to eight special interest fraternities and sororities with focuses in business, academic achievement, music, STEM and engineering, and pre-law. As a council, we are committed to fostering leadership development, service, academic excellence, and a deep sense of campus belonging. What makes UGC truly special is our celebration of individuality. The UGC embraces the unique passions of each chapter and member, empowering them to thrive in their chosen fields and to use their talents to give back to both the University and the wider community. UGC has truly changed the trajectory of my college experience. It has given me a strong sense of belonging, empowered me as a leader, and connected me with driven, inspiring peers across campus. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve this community as Council President and hope that you, too, find your home within the United Greek Council. Roll Tide!
Kendall Gerbers, 2025 UGC President
How to Join
Each organization that encompasses the United Greek Council has an individual recruitment process. Depending upon the chapter, this process may be referred to as Recruitment, Membership Intake, or Rush. Each chapter’s process for taking new members varies by their specific needs and (inter)national requirements.

Building Community at Greek Assembly Hall
The Greek Assembly Hall at The University of Alabama serves as a community space for the United Greek Council (UGC), fostering a sense of unity across the UGC chapters. This gathering space, shared with the NPHC, hosts weekly chapter meetings and brotherhood or sisterhood events for all chapter members. The United Greek Council executive board hosts events such as the UGC Blood Drive, a semesterly call to service for all Greek community members, and the UGC Open house, which provides an inviting introduction to Greek life for both new and prospective members. Whether through leadership workshops, philanthropic initiatives, social mixers, or many other events, the Greek Assembly Hall continues to cultivate community among the chapters of the UGC.
