The National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) is the coordinating council for the nine historically African American Greek-letter organizations, often referred to as the Divine Nine. The University of Alabama NPHC has eight of the nine organizations. These sororities and fraternities have been an integral part of the UA community since 1974, and we recently commemorated the 50-year mark with the establishment of the NPHC Plaza at Greek Assembly Hall.
Message from the President

As President of the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC), at The University of Alabama, it is my distinct honor to welcome you to our vibrant community. The NPHC stands as a beacon of unity, integrity, and cultural pride, rooted in the profound legacy of the Divine Nine, our historically Black Greek-letter organizations. Each of our chapters are committed to advancing the core values of scholarship, service, and the bonds of brotherhood and sisterhood. Through collaboration and purpose-driven action, we aim to equip our members with the knowledge, leadership skills, and values necessary to inspire meaningful change within our chapters, throughout our communities, and far beyond. Whether you're a prospective member, a dedicated supporter, or simply exploring who we are, I invite you to discover the rich traditions, cultural heritage, and continued achievements that define UA NPHC. Together, we honor our legacy and strive toward a future marked by excellence, empowerment, and impactful service. Roll Tide!
Ahmad Bennett, 2025 NPHC President
How to Join
NPHC organizations recruit members at various times of the year, through a process called Membership Intake (MIP). NPHC chapters determine their recruitment period, which can change each academic year. Interested students are required to attend NPHC Convocation during the year of interest to be eligible.

Building Community at Greek Assembly Hall
The Greek Assembly Hall and NPHC Plaza out front play a vital role in building community within the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) by providing a dedicated space for all 8 NPHC chapters and their UGC counterparts. Greek Assembly Hall is the location for many chapter meetings and events. As a council, NPHC hosts NPHC Convocation, Black Power Hour, and New Member Orientation at Greek Assembly Hall. Whether through educational programming or social gatherings, the Greek Assembly Hall fosters unity among NPHC members and strengthens the legacy of the eight NPHC Greek-letter organizations on campus.
